Loish, or Lois van Baarle, is a digital artist and freelance illustrator currently based in the Netherlands. Most of her work is centered around character design, but she also makes time for personal projects.
Loish, or Lois van Baarle, is a digital artist and freelance illustrator currently based in the Netherlands. Most of her work is centered around character design, but she also makes time for personal projects.
Some of the companies Loish has worked for include EA, LEGO, Amazon, Coca-Cola, and Guerrilla Games. Besides client work, she has also released three artbooks: The Art of Loish, The Sketchbook of Loish, and The Style of Loish.
On the topic of style, Loish uses many flowing, elegant lines and shapes in her work. For example, in one of her works, Nymph, the tree is comprised of many curved lines that give it a stylized effect. In simpler terms, each line is drawn with a purpose to guide the viewer’s eyes throughout the entire piece.
Loish also uses a lot of organic shapes to convey textures, shadows/highlights, and certain subjects. Equipped with flowy linework and organic shapes, Loish’s style is certainly a distinct one in the art world.
