We can see from his work that his style of art is very “anime-esque.” If you’re familiar with the whole anime and manga category, then you might be familiar with works such as Orbital Children, Sing “Yesterday” for Me, Bishounen Tanteidan(Pretty Boy Detective Club), or Platinum End. Ilya Kuvshinov has contributed to all of the listed works.

Though his style is similar to anime, he has unique traits in his art that set it apart from classical anime styles. Almost all of Ilya Kuvshinov’s works contain bright, saturated colors, and vibrant lighting/shading. His familiarity with Western comic-style work also shines through in some of his pieces.

Ilya Kuvshinov’s understanding of realism is one of the main reasons why he’s able to reach a unique level of stylization. By blending in elements of realism, anime, and his own personal identifiers, his work is easy to recognize among many artists.
